Meet Meghan

Meghan Litecky is a distinguished civil litigator and former prosecutor known for her exceptional ability to think critically and make rapid decisions under pressure. With a career rooted in serving as an assistant prosecuting attorney at the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, Meghan honed her skills in managing high-stakes situations. This foundation has been instrumental in her current role as a civil litigator, where she excels in both defending and prosecuting complex cases.

Her practice is diverse and client-centered, focusing on a wide range of civil litigation matters. Meghan has represented individuals and businesses in various scenarios, from advising trucking companies in wrongful death actions to handling professional liability claims for small businesses, and managing personal and property damage cases. She is particularly noted for her prowess in trial settings, exemplified by her successful defense against an $8.5 million claim related to a breach of duty of loyalty and tortious interference with business expectancy.

Meghan’s commitment to law extends beyond her litigation practice. She is a respected Trial Advocacy Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law, contributing significantly to the development of future legal professionals. Her involvement in legal education and mentorship is further evidenced by her roles as a Master in the Robert T. Ross Trial Academy, Co-Chair of the Association for Women Lawyers Women’s Trial Institute, and an instructor at both the Kansas City Police Department Regional Police Academy and the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorney’s annual Trial School.

Her leadership and expertise are recognized in her active participation in various legal organizations. She serves as an Officer and Secretary of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, a member of its Board of Directors, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Foundation. Additionally, Meghan is involved with the Transportation Lawyers Association and the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City. Meghan’s extensive experience includes leading and co-counseling in numerous trials, drafting legal briefs and documents for the Missouri Court of Appeals, and prosecuting a range of criminal offenses. She also played a vital role as a co-intern coordinator at the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office Intern program, managing and training law students.

Her exemplary contributions to the legal field have been recognized through numerous awards and honors, including being listed in The Best Lawyers in America from 2022 to the present, receiving the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation Presidents Award in 2023, and being named a Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyer since 2021. These accolades, combined with her earlier recognitions such as the Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly Up and Coming Award and the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office Rookie of the Year, underscore her dedication and skill in the legal profession.
